Bio
Yankuba Dibba, best known by his stage name Stalwart, is a reggae and dancehall from The Gambia. He was born in Bakau. He draws his music inspirations from Shabba Ranks and Buju Banton. In 1996, he started performing in class; he made his colleagues beat on the desks to produce background rhythm. In 1998, he released his maiden single called ‘Justice’. The single was a success and saw him becoming one of the outstanding artists in the country.
He has recorded for some great producers abroad and has continued get the attention of more national and international producers owing to his powerful and mature poetic lyrics. In 2007, he was nominated in the Upcoming Artist of The Year category at the Gambian Talent Awards.
In 2001, he introduced a new dance called 'Drive Di Car'. In January 2012, he became a winner at the Global African Music Awards under the umbrella of the bite my music global awards in Asia.
In 2013, he released his debut album called ‘Diboss’ (theboss). The project has 23 songs and some of the popular songs are ‘Heaven's Gate’, ‘How Long’, ‘Summer Time’, ‘Gals Magnet’, ‘Hot Gya’, ‘Wan fi Guh Rave’, ‘What Goes Around’, ‘Home Again’ and ‘Faya Start’.
