Call for entries: Youth talent search in SA
Starz at Home is calling on aspirant young South African performers to submit entries for its talent search.
- The competition is open to performers between the ages of 5 and 19.
The competition is courtesy of South African singer, actress and musical theatre coach Lisa Bobbert. Starz at Home seeks to offer entertainers between the ages of five and 19 the chance to break out of lockdown and shine online.
Participants can submit entries in the following categories:
- Vocals
- Musical variety
- Dance
- Acting
Bobbert and other judges are looking for:
- Something special
- Talent
- Authenticity
- The ability to radiate a love for performing
How it works
- Entrants should submit their entries here. Registration is R50 per solo category and R100 for a family (two or more people in an item, no age restriction).
- Under each category, participants will find various styles they can enter. If a style is not featured, participants can choose the ‘other’ option. There is no limit to the number of entries per contestant.
- Once you have registered and made payment, go to the my tickets tab where you will find your barcoded ticket(s). The barcode number will be your entry number. Each item entered will have its own unique number.
- Film a 90-second video. Start by introducing yourself followed by your performance.
- Join the Starz at Home Facebook page and upload your video. In the comment section, write your name, age and ticket number (barcode number).
- Once your video is uploaded, send and share to all your friends. There is a Fan Favourite prize for the video with the most likes and shares.
Contestants will be awarded in the following:
- Best overall performance.
- Category winners.
- Fan Favourite.
- Triple Treat (contestant who shines in three or more categories)
The deadline for entries and uploads is 31 May. The winners will be announced on 12 June.
