Nigeria: Joeboy shares Tempoe-produced SMH single
Nigerian Afrobeats artist, Joeboy, has released a new single titled ‘SMH’.

The song was produced by local artist Tempoe and is available for streaming and download on major digital platforms. The record was released via Young Legend in partnership with Warner Music Africa. It is a fusion of Afro-beats and rich Indian/Middle Eastern influences, offering fans an enticing snapshot of what to expect from the 27-year-old’s upcoming third studio album, set for release in the near future.
“There’s a certain clarity of mind that hits you when you finally understand that not all relationships are supposed to last forever,” Joeboy said. “Some are better as phases with lessons to learn. Whatever seems to be missing no matter how hard you try is missing for a reason.”
Short for “Something’s Missing Here,” SMH brings together Joeboy and frequent collaborator Tempoe in a track that pushes creative boundaries while retaining Joeboy’s signature melodic style. Built around a mesmerising Indian/Middle Eastern-inspired sample, the song’s infectious energy is fuelled by intricate percussion and lush production. Joeboy’s smooth vocals glide over the beat as he delves into an irresistible yet toxic love affair, all while exploring bold new sonic territory.
Tempoe, the mastermind behind Joeboy’s previous hits ‘Sip (Alcohol)’ and ‘Door’ featuring Kwesi Arthur, continues to shape the sonic landscape of contemporary Afro-beats. His production credits include Victony’s ‘Soweto’, Omah Lay’s ‘Understand’ and ‘Godly’, as well as the global smash ‘Love Nwantiti’ by CKay featuring Joeboy. With ‘SMH’, Joeboy and Tempoe once again prove their undeniable chemistry, delivering a track that captivates from start to finish.
The release of ‘SMH’ arrives hot off announcing his 2025 world tour, which will see Joeboy take his live show across multiple continents. The tour kicked-off with sold-out shows across Australia in January, with a flurry of dates across Europe to follow including Copenhagen, Rome, Milan, Stockholm and Amsterdam. The Nigerian will then tour the UK, taking in headline shows across Manchester, London, Birmingham and Leicester this June.
Since breaking onto the scene in 2017, Joeboy has consistently proven himself as one of Africa’s most influential contemporary artists. With over two billion global streams, including 135 million Spotify streams on his viral smash ‘Sip (Alcohol)’ and countless chart-topping singles, he continues to push boundaries, bringing Afro-beats to an ever-growing international audience. 2024 also marked a new chapter for the Joeboy, as he launched his Lagos-based label, Young Legend, in partnership with Warner Music Africa. Since its inception, Joeboy’s releases on Young Legend have amassed 80 million streams across DSPs, reinforcing his status as one of Afro-beats’ most loved artists.
With a world tour that’s set to showcase Joeboy’s authentic, sweet and vibrant output to even greater heights, ‘SMH’ serves as an infectious launchpad for the next chapter of Joeboy’s journey.
