Taffie Matiure

Self-defined Shona, Zimbabwean afro-fusion mbira plus marimba player Taffie Matiure is one of his generation's unique talents. He communicates with other audiences and musicians in what he terms “originality and pride”. Taffie is a performer who inspires performers of all ages to become themselves. Sauta T. (2022) "SHAKE OFF IDLENESS,MBIRA MUSICIAN TELLS YOUTH" Newsday 12 October, describes him as an authentic musician who embraces diversity, imagination, and integrity. He has appeared at Zimfest USA (2018, 2019), MUHAG (2021), and Good Food Festival (2021), among others, and at many famous music venues including Zimbabwe German Society and Gavas Restaurant.

A mbira player since age 6 Taffie holds a BSc Honours in Music Business, Musicology and Technology from the Midlands State University. His Music Business skills enables him to engage in several cross cultural exchange programs as well as international collaborations. Co-founder and Managing Director of Mbira Urban Trust, He aims to contribute to the ambition of the world becoming a better place through arts and culture.In addition to that, he is passionate about the next generation of artists and empowers them through voluntary visits to High schools where he coaches marimba.
