This marks her first solo number-one ranking on the platform, coming six months after its initial release. The achievement follows the song’s success on Shazam South Africa, where it also claimed the top spot, surpassing tracks by established artists such as Cassper Nyovest, Yanga, and Kelvin Momo.
“I’m so grateful to everyone who has streamed, Shazamed, or shared Ngisakuthanda,” Zee Nxumalo said. “Seeing it hit number one on Apple Music and go multi-platinum is beyond anything I could have imagined. A huge shout out to TBO, he’s a big part of why this song is doing so well. This moment is for my team and my fans, thank you for pushing me to new heights. I’m inspired to keep creating music that speaks to all of us, and I can’t wait to share what’s next.”
Further cementing its success, ‘Ngisakuthanda’ has now been certified multi-platinum in South Africa, reinforcing Nxumalo’s growing influence in the industry. Her digital presence has also surged, with over 100 000 subscribers on YouTube, two million followers on TikTok, one million on Facebook, and 600 000 on Instagram.
Zee Nxumalo’s co-manager Shingai Darangwa said: “Watching Ngisakuthanda rise through the charts and now reach number one on Apple Music is a dream come true for the entire team. Zee’s growth over the past few months, following a breakthrough 2024, has been incredible to witness. Her talent, hard work, and authenticity have clearly resonated with music lovers across the country.”
Blending amapiano and Afropop, Nxumalo has positioned herself as one of South Africa’s most promising rising stars. As she continues to dominate the charts and expand her global reach, her upward trajectory shows no signs of slowing down.
