Moseh Drumist
Bio
Moseh Drumist is an urban folklore drummer, musician, facilitator and producer.
Born and raised in the slums of Mathare in Nairobi, he used music as a means of coping with his challenging upbringing by joining MYSA (Mathare Youth Sports Association) first as a dancer and acrobatic performer, then went on to learn how to play The Ohangla and the Isikuti; Luo and Luhya traditional instruments respectively, he also dabbled with the Djembe drum from West Africa.
Moseh gives back to his community as one of the founders of Slum Children’s project; a CBO which collects and distributes donations in the form of food, clothes, school supplies, hygiene products, to help those living in difficult conditions in the slums. He is also a drumming instructor who uses his talents as tools for mobilizing and educating children, the youth and society at large concerning different issues that affect them.
Moseh is proficient at playing a variety of Kenyan traditional drums such as Bunde, Ohangla drums, Chapuo and Bum Bum and has represented Kenya in different events summarized below:
