YOK7
Bio
Yusif Osaio Kamara, popularly known as YOK7 grew up in the East end of Freetown, Sierra Leone.
He completed his secondary school in Sierra Leone, but left the country for the neighbouring republic of Guinea when the civil war started. While in Guinea, he started to perform in night clubs and community halls.
He joined a musical group called Planet Sounds Production in 1998. He contributed a song titled ‘Right Up and How Many’ to the group’s Planet Compilation Volume 1. Thereafter, he started his own group called Noble Squad with the intent of spreading Sierra Leonean music all over the world. The group, however, splintered and couldn’t complete the album they intended to produce.
He continued to record singles as a solo artist and joined Paradise Records in 2002. He again contributed a song titled ‘A-Bo’ to a compilation record produced by Paradise records called Paradise Records Compilation Volume 1. He produced his first album titled Palava in 2003. He produced two more studio albums in 2005, 2007 and 2009 titled Life and Deah, Pack n’ Go, and True Love respectively.
