Epum Iphanyi
Bio
Epum Ifeanyi is an artist from Lagos, Nigeria.
Ifeanyi graduated from Delta State University with a BA in Music. He delved into classical music by chance; when he was mandated to join the choir as part of the requirements for confirmation. Ifeanyi started off singing soprano and his gift was noticed by his then choirmasters Mr Precious Nwarie and Mr Eric Njoku with whom he had his first vocal lessons. He made great impact as a soprano and this led to his decision to become a countertenor after his voice broke.
While at University, he had the privilege to be tutored by Dr. A. O Ogisi, who exploited, developed and honed his talent. Ogisi was the choirmaster of Emmanuel Anglican church, Ibusa, Delta State, Saint Mary’s church, Agulu, Anambra state and Saint John’s church, Nibo, Anambra state.
Ifeanyi has been a member of the Muson Choir, Laz Ekwueme Chorale, Praise Chorale, Christian Sings Foundation, Moutaintop Conservatory Choir, Greeenland Classics, and the Healing Power of Music Initiative. He has also worked with renowned conductors like Prof. Laz Ekwueme, Emeka Nwokedi, Ayo Bankole (jnr), Oladeinde Nelson-Cole and German conductor Walter-Michael Vollhardt. In addition, Ifeanyi has graced the stage at the centenary celebration, national tree lighting celebration and a collaborative performance with the King’s college choir, London.
Ifeanyi has explored a vast repertoire encompassing music of Handel, Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Vivaldi, Haydn, Porpora, Allitsen and many other Nigerian composers.
