Nigerian producer Dr Frabz shot dead in the US
Nigerian Afro-soul producer Dr Frabz was allegedly shot dead in Maryland, US, at the weekend. He was aged 35.
The producer’s death was confirmed by singer Nikki Laoye on Sunday. No further details were shared.
“Oh my God persevering face,” Laoye tweeted. “My dear brother, Dr Frabz. This is such terrible news. Just heard that he was shot. Who did this? I am so pained right now. What kind of news is this?”
Condolences have been pouring in on social media following the musician's death.
Colleague and musician Samklef tweeted: “One of Nigeria legendary producer just died. Sad day for me. Rip legend! Dr Frabz. We spoke 2 weeks ago u asked how is Houston treating me? I came to Maryland yesterday only for me to hear that u are no more today. What a sad day! A brother is gone! another producer is gone! RIP!”
Musician Seyi Shay wrote: “RIP Frabz. This is really hard to accept. Just heard the news. RIP to the man that gave us Murda ft. Patoranking and ShaydeeBoi. In our hearts forever Dr Frabz.”
DJ Neptune tweeted: “Rest in paradise my brother my friend. Dr Frabz We had big dreams but God knows best. I’m grateful for the life you lived and the hits you made. You’re a genius, your legacy will live forever. Good night Frabinabebo AKA Jugunu.”
Born Ayorinde Faboror, the late Dr Frabz was a native of Ekiti State and learned to play the piano at the age of six followed by drums soon after that.
Dr Frabz's career began in 2006 using the the moniker Dr Frabz, which stands for Doctor of Flavour, Rhythm and Blues. The musician was the founder of N’sayne Entertainment and has worked with some top acts including Wizkid, Seyi Shay, Naeto C, Davido, Dagrin, YQ, Shank and Omawumi, among others.
His lastest single ‘No Room for Heartaches’ was released in May last year.
