Ivory Coast: WAW Muzik strikes deal with Tuned Global
WAW Muzik this week forged a partnership with B2B streaming technology specialist Tuned Global.
The deal will see WAW Muzik revamped following its launch in 2017. Under the new arrangement, Tuned Global will handle WAW Muzik’s supply chain while existing partner Orange Côte d’Ivoire will drive the service’s subscriptions, which will cater for both mobile money and airtime payments.
The West Africa-based WAW Muzik boasts a catalogue of 14 million tracks as well as deals with labels and distributors including Universal Music Group, Believe, Idol and Keyzit.
“Tuned Global’s APIs give us ready-made access to advanced streaming features that allow us to provide the best possible service for our customers,” WAW Muzik CEO Jean-Philippe Audoli said. “We were particularly impressed by their automated content delivery technology, which guarantees that our users will be able to search for and access the content they want.
“Knowing that our new backend technology is fully scalable and reliable gives us all the more confidence in our plans to expand into new territories and grow our business further. This allows us to strengthen the West African music industry with improved remuneration of rights holders, and nurture cultural exchanges with other territories.”
Tuned Global managing director Con Raso said: “It’s important that DSPs operating within emerging markets can continue to have access to the resources necessary to function within the demands of a challenging socio-economic and technological environment.”
“We are extremely pleased to have initiated a new partnership that will meet and provide these essential service requirements while supporting the local music industry.”
Tuned Global’s inroads in Africa include partnerships with digital service providers Deedo and Jabaa. Meanwhile, the new WAW Muzik app is expected to be rolled out into other West African markets soon.
