Nigeria: Dan Drizzy shares Tele Mi single
Ghanaian-born Nigerian musician Dan Drizzy has released a new single titled ‘Tele Mi’ featuring fellow Nigerian act SPL Daddy. The track is available for streaming and download across major streaming platforms.
The amapiano-inspired Afrobeats song, which is the third collaboration between the artists, derives its title from a Yoruba term which translates as “follow me”. The record is produced by Anelworldwide.
Dan Drizzy’s second single for the year, ‘Tele Mi’ is themed around party life and geared towards dance.
The accompanying video for ‘Tele Mi’ was directed by Young Charles. It starts off with Dan Drizzy hopping onto a motorcycle with a woman, before blowing up into a series of successive shots that soon reveal a bevvy of video vixens in their respective cars following the star in a beeline to a party venue where SPL Daddy is already living his best life.
This is not Dan Drizzy’s first foray into amapiano. Earlier this year, he partnered with British-Ghanaian star Eugy on ‘International’, which also nods to the South African sound.
Speaking to Music In Africa ahead of the song’s release, Dan Drizzy, who describes his style as West African contemporary pop, noted that he has always felt connected to the ampiano sound. “I go with how I am feeling at the moment and I wouldn’t force any vibe on myself,” he said.
On his unique challenges as an independent artist, Dan Drizzy cited the lack of resources and genuine support. Ultimately, Dan Drizzy hopes to connect the world to unique African sounds.
Dan Drizzy is behind a growing catalogue of singles and 2021’s Business EP, which guests Ghanaian rappers Medikal and Ponobiom. ‘Tele Mi’ heralds another collection by Dan Drizzy, due for release later this year.
