Bio
Nassim Dendane aka DENDANA, is a singer-songwriter, born in 1988 in Tlemcen, Algeria - a city with Arab-Andalusian traditions. He comes from a family of musicians: his father is a teacher of music theory at the conservatory.
At home, he had access to various instruments. At the age of five, he was initiated to the classical piano and later found his way to the folk guitar, which he adopted at the age of 13. He started covering Anglo-Saxon songs from the 70s as well as French variété. As a teenager, he became interested in sub-Saharan music and its traditional instruments.
Discovered by Algerian radios with his first covers of Bob Marley, Nassim Dendane launched his artistic and music career and flew to France to study Mediation in Performing Arts in 2010.
In 2011, he took the name of DENDANA, which means "Music" in Algerian dialect, and became "Algerian Male Revelation".
His first album as a songwriter "DenDana Project", was released in 2013 by Padidou editions in Algeria. He performed around fifty dates, some with Cheikh Sidi Bémol, Fanfaraï, the Orchestre National de Barbès and Kasav'.
In 2013, his 2nd album "Melody" was released in France. His atypical, innovative and colorful style brought together Western and African music. Accompanied by the sole rhythm of his guitar, he performed on stage to conquer an international multicultural audience.
His latest album, ‘Je n'ai pas les mots’, ‘Can’t find the words’, was released in 2020. It is a crossover between the great French variété and the blues of the desert. It takes us on a crossing of the Sahara towards the metropolis. His soft voice and the Folk, Gnawa and Jazz influences earned him the participation of Ben l'Oncle Soul and Charlotte Savary, as well as other talented musicians.
On stage, his solar personality, his warm presence and his openness captivate the public. His live performances enchant and capture the audience’s hearts . His values of openness to the world and the abolition of musical borders, make him a committed artist, whose live performances touch the heart and the soul.
