Bio
Jayson Tsebe is a singer songwriter and stage performer from South Africa, Limpopo.
He has been singing and writing songs since the age of 16 but officially started his music career in 2018 when he independently released his debut album titled Potential, which was well received by local radio stations in Polokwane and got him opportunities to work with great artists like Candy Tsa mandebele, Benny Mahingani and Omee Otis thus securing him his first set of big live performances at music events like Marula Jazz Festival and Phangweni vibes summer music festival.
Between 2019 and 2021 Jayson Tsebe was featured in live events around Pretoria like Black Labone & Botaki ba Afrika and he regularly partnered with The National Poet laureate Dr Wally Serote on events about African poetry and literature, he also composed Music for short films and independently wrote, composed ,produced and released his own Audio Musical titled, Mapula The Rain Queen while he studied Musical Theatre at the Tshwane University of Technology where he graduated with Cum laude.
During his studies was also cast for lead roles in various Musical Theatre productions like BARE a Pop Opera, Aladdin and Walt Disneys Beauty and The Beast where he played Maurice(Belles father) and also choreographed dances for the production along side Dr Pinto Ferreira.
His solo live performance set is made up of his original African music and covers from his most adored African music legends such Umanji, Vusi Mahlasela and Selaelo Selota where he uses a live loop station like Ed Sheeran to create a whole new sound to live African music. Jayson Tsebe is a qualified performer who can Sing, Dance, Act, Write, Produce and Direct his own musical ideas. He also taught himself the guitar, bass and keyboard which allows him complete freedom of expression on stage or in studio
2022 he collaborated with SAMA nominee Dj Brazo Wa Afrika on a beautiful deep house love song which is said to be dropping this summer, he also independently released a series of singles that made waves on Tiktok after several of his African music cover videos went viral getting 50 000 likes and shares.
