Bio
Akinade Ibuoye (known under the stage name Gaise Baba) is a Nigerian Afro-fusion Artiste who sings in his native language Yoruba and English and the Nigerian variation of English – pidgin English, often combining all three languages within his songs. Gaise Baba has a first degree in Economics, and he holds a diploma in Music Business from Berklee College of music.
Beyond writing, recording and performing music, Gaise Baba is the founder of social impact platforms that serve youth communities, and the nation at large. He founded the LightOut Initiative; a high school musical outreach and concert experience employing music and art as vehicles for social impact, teen advocacy and youth mentorship. With LightOut, Gaise Baba teams up with fellow artistes to tour high schools and colleges across the country, and has reached over 25,000 teenage and pre-teen students. He is also the founder of ARAMANDA – a culture shaping Afro-Urban Music and Arts Festival that connects with young, social, digitally savvy and trendy Gen Z & Millennial Africans who love music, dance, art, and are looking to experience alternative Christian sounds, genres and expressions.
In December 2020, Gaise Baba founded Lounge464, his own base where he shares his music, art and essence with his growing audience and community. With live, rustic, Afro Fusion music and insightful conversations, Lounge464 has held 13 times across Lagos, Abuja and Ibadan, and some editions streamed globally via StageIt.com.
Gaise Baba’s most anticipated project so far: his Sophomore Album – A Decade After, released in February 2022, is a 13-track album which comprises varying sounds ranging from Afrobeats, Afropop, rap and vintage African soulful sounds. At the official Album Listening at Alliance Francaise, Ikoyi Lagos, which had representation from the German Embassy, Swedish Embassy and South African High Commission, the South African Consul General, Mr. Darkey Africa described Gaise Baba as the future of the African Continent.
He was the youngest of fourteen (14) influential artistes honored by the Ekiti State Government of Nigeria as Cultural Ambassadors in October 2013. Widely referred to as a Culture Architect, Gaise Baba travels the country and beyond, delivering outstanding musical performances and building a groundbreaking movement around his brand.
