K'Ru
Bio
K’Ru is an experienced musician, community builder, and educator with a fervent passion for enabling a more conscious appreciation for the value of African music and culture. He is a DJ that is curious about the array of sounds that continue to emanate from Mama Africa and its diaspora. He is a curator of feel-good vibes from around the world that are rooted in African rhythms, and that exude African flair.
He is the founder and creative director of Pineapple Undertones, a platform that nurtures, celebrates and elevates African culture. This platform has enabled him to promote progressive African culture through multiple channels. He has published a range of DJ mix series, organized live musical events across East Africa, hosted live, virtual conversations about African music, and designed and delivered engaging workshops at ALU in Kigali and at SOAS in London.
His experience being a creative in the emerging East African music scene has led him to the forefront of enabling favourable conditions to grow and solidify this scene. He has had multiple DJ gigs across the African continent, notably at festivals such as Nyege Nyege and Kaz'Out Musik Festival.
