SA-based Nigerian singer Zaga releases new single Ohema
South African-based Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer Nwokocha Sunny Kingsley, popularly known as Zaga, has released a new single titled ‘Ohema’.
‘Ohema’ was produced by South African producer Young C Beats and is available for streaming here.
The tune is the second major single for Zaga following his highly successful 2019 debut song ‘Your Mind’, featuring the popular ‘No Wahala’ singer 1da Banton, released under his previous stage name Nakzy OT before he switched to Zaga in 2021.
‘Ohema’ is a mellow Afrobeats track sure to appeal to your emotional side. On the song, Zaga is expressing his feelings for a romantic interest after a love-at-first-sight encounter. In the offering whose lyricism is replete with sweet nothings (Ohema means queen), the singer has gone for the tried-and-tested formula, choosing to go with a familiar radio and club-friendly sound.
“My aim is to create music that can touch the world, uplift peace and bring joy,” Zaga said. “I grew up around a lot of violence, poverty and chaos, and all I want to do right now is spread love and I know this song is full of love.”
Currently rebranding as an artist and shifting his focus to his newly founded imprint My Page, My Craft, Zaga is determined to make an impact in the music industry and hopes to inspire many who came from a similar background as his.
Zaga was born on 7 August 1994 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, where he grew up with eight siblings. In 2014, he dropped out of the University of Calabar after one semester to focus on his music career. He moved to South Africa in 2019 after the release of his debut single ‘Your Mind’, which was well-received by radio stations in Nigeria.
He was a member of the now-defunct groups Vision Guys and Yanga Republic.
