Shingie-Lee is by all means an anomaly to the underground rap scene. His appreciation for the genre and eagerness to push it forward through experimentation, is evident throughout his discography. With just a quick listen to some of his self produced abstract beats, mixed with witty and sometimes deeply personal lyrics (Shingie-Lee: Essentials), it's easy to see that Shingie-Lee is the sub genre's poster child.
Leroy Shingai Twaibu (born on October 3, 2003), popularly known as Shingie-Lee, is a Zimbabwean born rapper, record producer and songwriter from the North West province of South Africa. Shingie-Lee’s music thus far can be categorized as underground - alternative/abstract hip-hop and cloud/emo rap.
Shingie-Lee started making music in 2018 as a producer and released his first song nylon in October of the following year under the guidance of the country's biggest hip-hop collective in that period. Since then he's gone on to release a slew of singles as well as EP's including Hear My Thoughts, Waves, OGMA, DARK PIT SARDINES and more. The artist is set to release his debut full length project "NAKED MANNEKIN" in 2024.
