Ditto joins forces with WaterBear to launch music business degree programme
Global distribution and artist services company Ditto Music has partnered with WaterBear the College of Music, to introduce a music business degree, commencing in September.
WaterBear the College of Music was founded by music education pioneers Adam Bushell and Bruce John Dickinson who together boast more than 30 years of experience in professional music and 25 years at the highest level of music education.
The three-year, full-time BA (Hons) Professional Music Business degree is scheduled to run at both Brighton and Sheffield WaterBear the College of Music campuses. It also makes Ditto the first music distributor to partner with WaterBear.
The programme caters to aspiring music entrepreneurs, artists, songwriters and producers. It covers various essential industry topics, including music distribution, publishing, marketing, label and artist management, music education, events, tour management, and music journalism.
Students enrolled in the degree will receive guidance and practical insights from a combination of Ditto Music’s team of industry experts and WaterBear’s faculty. Additionally, they will benefit from free music distribution services for the duration of the course.
“Our goal is to empower the next generation of music pros with the real-world industry knowledge and tools they need to thrive,” Ditto Music CEO Lee Parsons said. “With our combined expertise and resources, we are confident that this course will provide great opportunities for aspiring music entrepreneurs.”
Meanwhile, Ditto Music, which anticipates reaching the 1 million mark by the end of 2023, has announced the return of the Ditto X: Meet the Music Industry event to London’s Indigo at The O2 for the third year running. The event, scheduled for 16 November, offers emerging artists and aspiring music professionals the opportunity to network and participate in insightful panels while celebrating the impact of independent music.
