Bio
My name is Antsa ARIMALALA, I am a transdisciplinary artist from Madagascar. I am capturing stories that I would later describe into a sound art form, as a piece of music, a sound exploration, installation, even a movie or any kind of sound based medium. A lot of research and culture shape my approach. I’m eager to understand how things work, whether in art, culture, or even through a scientific lens—where research is essential to grasp the process and the key players. Often, a movement influences my work, whether it’s a genre, an era, or a community with a unique culture. Processing all these elements enriches and deepens my work. That’s why I’ve been drawn to sound design, synthesis, and more recently, blending traditional culture, nature sounds with modern stuff. My latest work mostly envolved around the role of connection between people, their stories and the environment.
With the collective BSKMG, I collaborate on electronic music projects, based on field-recordings all over Madagascar. Through projects such as SPIRITS and ORIGINS, we create transdisciplinary works combining contemporary music, image and while highlighting the soul of our country.
