Nigeria: Oxlade announces world tour dates
Nigerian Afrobeats act Oxlade has announced a world tour in support of his upcoming debut album, Oxlade From Africa, due on 20 September.
Produced by Duke Concept, the tour will kick off with 18 North American dates in early October, before expanding to other parts of the world.
Oxlade’s North American leg, from 2 October to 24 November, includes stops in major cities such as Edmonton, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Miami, Houston, Atlanta, and New Orleans.
On the road, he will play from his catalogue of EPs and popular singles like ‘Ku Lo Sa’, which shot him to global notice, and new offerings like ‘Katigori’, ‘Piano’ and ‘Arabambi’.
Oxlade, born Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman and signed to Epic Records, is known for a distinctive sound that fuses Afro-fusion, R&B, and pop, with love as a central theme in much of his music.
He holds double-platinum certification for ‘Ku Lo Sa’ in Switzerland and platinum in Canada, France and Germany, and has collaborated with leading African artists such as Sarkodie, Fireboy DML, Ice Prince, Davido and CKay. He has also as reworked songs by global icons Bob Marley and Whitney Houston.
