Brikzit
Bio
Brikzit (born Viwe Mabodla) is a South African hip hop artist from Kokstad in KwaZulu-Natal province.
He grew up in Bhongweni location where he became accustomed to street life and got interested in the music that was played around him. Kwaito and hip hop became his ideal genres, as they portrayed the life in the locations as well as the dress code. Another
factor that contributed to his love of hip hop was his older brother, with whom they formed a crew that eventually disbanded due to lack of funding and recognition at that time.
Brikzit fuses English, Zulu, Xhosa and street slang in his lyrics, which feature vibrant delivery and word play. His lyrics are largely influenced by his experiences and his musical style is a mixture of different genres including maskandi, reggae, kwaito, American
hip hop, spaza rap and kasi rap.
Artists who have influenced Brikzit include TI, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Tupac, KRS-One, Deep Level, Papoose, Pro, Tumi and Proverb.
