The Alliance Française de Nairobi was founded in 1949. It was situated along Tom Mboya Street, known as Victoria Street. Over the last sixty years, the Alliance Française de Nairobi has developed into one of the largest on the African continent and a leading cultural space.
Since 2005, Alliance Française de Nairobi has been mandated with the implementation of French-Kenyan cultural cooperation.
It runs a diverse programme of events throughout the year showcasing local and international Arts and creativity as well as promoting intercultural enrichment.
Cinema, music, theatre, dance, visual arts, thematic exhibitions, literary events, festivals and commemorative celebrations, focused discussions; all contribute to nurturing cultural and artistic diversity as well as raising awareness on pertinent socio-cultural issues.
