John Wizards

New band drawing heavily on a wide variety of African influences to create an eclectic, downtempo, genre-defying sound that has garnered a huge amount of attention in a short amount of time. Guitarist and producer John Withers met Rwandan musician Emmanuel Nzaramba on the streets of Cape Town. John told him he had been writing music requiring vocals, which Emmanuel was able to provide. Together as John Wizards they put together their debut album, Lusaka By Night. The band was promptly signed by UK label Planet Mu.

During this time John also gathered together an ensemble of friends to help translate these songs into a live show. In October and November 2013, the band embarked on an extensive tour of Europe. They returned to Europe in May and June 2014, performing at major festivals throughout Europe, including Glastonbury and Pukkelpop.
