Bio

Abdu Kiar (Amharic: አብዱ ኪያር; born June 23, 1976 in Addis Merkato, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia) is an artist in Ethiopian music. He gained his popularity in 2003 on his first album called 'Merkato Sefere.' Abdu kiar is well known for his modern style Ethiopian music and for his best Amharic lyrics. Since 2003 Abdu has written and recorded three albums.

Abdu's father was called Kiar Kahssay and his mother Wuba Siraj Abdu was the youngest of 7 children. When he graduated from high school Abdu joined the Express music band in 1997, performing Dancehall, Hip hop and Reggae in the night clubs called Coffee House and Lion Club.

In 1998 Abdu went to Saudi Arabia and worked as a salesman in a fashion store in Jeddah.
In 2003 he released his first album 'Merkato Sefere' and joined the Ethiopian music industry with great fame. Abdu released two other albums, 'Fikir Beamarigna' (2006) and 'Minew Shewa' (2009). Abdu also contributed a song to support HIV awareness in Ethiopia.
Making his world tour in different cities, Abdu performs his songs to Ethiopians all over the world.

Abdu married his first love Metasebia Negussie who is a nurse in 2006 and settled in Alexandria, Virginia. A father of 2 boys, Aman Kiar and Sami Kiar, Abdu went back to college in 2011 and obtained the associate degrees of Science in Information Technology.
