J Mac

J Mac (born Nkosinathi Kofi Asante on 5 December 1997) is a Swazi-born Ghanaian hip hop recording artist from Manzini, eSwatini.

He is best known for his introspective lyrics and his debut 'Dear Agnes' EP under indie label CIV Entertainment, which was released to positive reviews.

J Mac encountered music at a young age but was not interested in rapping at the time. He dreamt of becoming a successful football player but had to give up his dream after sustaining an injury to his left knee. He started writing music at the age of 18 and it was not until he finished high school that he began to take his music career seriously.

He went on to release his first single under indie label YC Entertainment and in early 2018 he began writing his first project, which was in honour of his late mother. The writing process, he says, helped him heal the grief. The EP features five tracks and was recorded at another indie label, CIV Entertainment, in Mbabane, eSwatini.

In 2019, Nkosinathi started his own record label, Rapville, to produce his own music and is the only artist signed to it. In April 2019 he was working on his latest EP.
