Atum Shekhem

Born in Rundu, Namibia, Atum Shekhem (also known as Kashela Kashela) is a Namibian reggae artist. In 2001, Atum taught visual art and music before he began his career as a performing artist. In 2007, he released a debut album titled ‘Kora Nyara’. In 2011 he left Namibia and is currently based in Berlin, Germany, where he leads a band called The Shabaka Rootz Band.

In February 2015, the artist hosted a reggae concert in Windhoek to launch his new CD titled ‘Reggae on the Radio’. He has performed with other local reggae artists such as Ras Sheehama, Ras Lando, Laebo and Blazah-blazah-i. Apart from Namibia and Germany, he has also performed in the Netherlands and Czech Republic.
