Mehdi Laifaoui is an Algerian artist. He is an author, composer and performer.
His music mixes the Bedouin and trab modes, a pentatonic musica that gives the Rai music its african flavor.
The majority of the songs that make up his repertoire are original compositions plus some standards of the old rai of the 70s and 80s revisited; an eclectic repertoire, a journey through rai music to the taste of the world.
He is the author of the opus Mehdi Laifaoui & trab project, a repertoire rooted in the poetry and music of western Algeria in the 30s.
