Rudo Chasi
Bio
Rudo Chasi is an upcoming musician from Zimbabwe. She developed a passion for music at the tender age of 13. She began learning guitar in 2010. Her music was influenced veteran artists Thomas Mapfumo and Oliver Mtukudzi. She also draws her influences from musicians such as Shirley Caesar, Juanita Bynum and plenty of AmericanBlack Gospel Music which she grew up listening to. Her music is a social commentary on many social issues affecting people.
Her debut performance was in mid 2012 for the Sisters Open mic at The Book Cafe. In 2014, she released her debut album which produced by porpular producer Clive “Mono” Mukundu and JT. Musarara.
She has been part of the Zimbabwean German Society’s acoustic nights and has also participated at the gender based violence community theatre. She has opened for Mtukudzi at Mistys in Newlands. She also performs at weddings and other corporate functions. She has performed at the Mutare National Art Gallery and Shaurai Poetry and Music night. Apart from music, she is a law graduate of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, South Africa.
