MR G (The Black Indian)
Bio
Mr G (born Shaun Govender on 13 February 1990) is a South African DJ and producer.
His earliest releases include 'Movida' and 'Hirimiki'. In 2016 he was featured on SABC 1’s Masters of Spin where he showed off his mixing and production skills among the country’s elite. The impact he had on the TV show got him the recognition he needed to enter the industry as an independent artist.
Not long after releasing his debut album 'Gqom Power vol.1', Mr G was faced with a situation that many young, unsigned artists face when their works are plagiarised by popular artists. This, however, did not keep him down; he went on to release 'Le Walk', a single off the 'Gqom Power Vol 1' project, which he released in October 2017.
In July 2018, he released 'The Black Indian' EP, which features a remastered version of 'Le Walk'. In the same year he appeared on SABC TV programme The Remix SA, where he was the producer of a group called The Headliners. Together, they made it to the top three of the competition.
In 2019 Mr G decided to take the gqom genre to his own cultural roots and remixed a Bollywood song to a heavy dance-floor banger titled 'Yaa Naa Miley (Mr G Gqom Power Remix)'. The track was closely followed by the release of 'Delimit'.
