Young Chilaga and the Black Survivors

The Black Survivors is an eight piece band from Malawi led by Young Chilaga. It was founded in 1996. The idea behind its formation is to promote traditional music in the country and assist to preserving local culture. The assemblage forms part of groups which regularly perform at the popular Lake of Stars festival. Their music is a mixture of traditional rhythms which is influenced by neighboring countries. There are well known for showcasing humorous traditional dances, and acrobatics.
