Yemi Alade appears on wine label at Lagos album launch
Yemi Alade toasted the release of her fourth studio album Woman of Steel with a bottle of Luc Belaire at the IMAX Theatre in Lagos last Saturday.
The album is being released at a pivotal time for Alade, hot on the heels of her smash hit remix ‘Oh My Gosh’ featuring American rapper Rick Ross, and shortly after she was chosen by Beyoncé as one of a small number of African artists to feature on the soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift.
TV host Denrele Edun, entertainer and comedienne Dat Warri Girl, Nigerian singer Illbliss and DJ Sose were all seen enjoying the wine brand, whose limited edition Icon Series, created to celebrate the world's hottest artist, bears Alade's likeness.
Woman of Steel is being presented in Lagos, Paris, London and New York, alongside Alade's first short film, titled Home. Each event in the aforementioned cities will see VIPs gifted a bottle of Luc Belaire.
Alade's latest album has been described as an offering that masterfully weaves through genres, exhibiting the singer's amazing dexterity, vocal power and emotional precision. She experiments successfully with a Latino vibe on ‘Give Dem’ while Afrobeat numbers like ‘Vibe’, ‘Nobody’ and the provocative Duncan Mighty duet ‘Shake’ give the album its modern African feel.
Woman of Steel also boasts a remake of Angélique Kidjo's classic ‘Wombo Lombo’, christened ‘Shekere’, with the iconic multiple Grammy winner collaborating on the track.
