Afrikano
Bio
Afrikano is an artist and producer from Mombasa, Kenya.
With an eclectic sound that spans the vast spectrum of music, Afrikano is no stranger to music the music scene. He started playing the guitar at a very young age and co-formed the Walking Nation electronic band with long time friend and collaborator, Jammah Sharpiro at university. This bore a number of international releases during the burgeoning electronic music era. In 2013 they dissolved the group to pursue different careers.
After a short hiatus, Afrikano returned to the music scene in 2014 but mainly focusing on producing music. This was followed by the successful launch of the Artitude Music outfit which is credited for releasing a number of remixes. He later released his debut album titled 'Troubadour' which sold over 1000 copies.
Afrikano brings together intense and fiery themes of love, passion, lust, remorse, indulgence, pleasure and morality. His music can be described as heartfelt stories that take one's mind through a journey of deep introspection, while contrasted with infectious beats and captive hooks that keep the listener wanting more.
Afrikano echoes influences from some of the great contemporary, past and present, Kenyan and African acts notably Sauti Sol, Kaysha ,E-sir, Nameless, GidiGidi MajiMaji, Cassper Nyovest, Pegguy Tabu and C4 Pedro.
