South African Music Award (SAMA) winning and nominated singer-songwriter Albert Frost hails from Cape Town, South Africa. He is renowned for his exceptional guitar skills and soulful vocals, blending rock, folk, and blues with elements of delta blues, psychedelic rock, and Afro rhythms. His performances reflect a deep connection to his roots, and he captivates audiences with his mastery of both acoustic and electric guitars. Frost has been a Fender endorsee for 25 years and is revered as the "South African Hendrix." Rolling Stone Magazine has dubbed him the "Dark Prince of South African blues," recognizing his incredible talent and artistry.
Frost first gained recognition with his third independent album, The Wake Up, which won Best Rock Album at the 2017 SAMA Awards. His latest album, Sacred Sounds, was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2022 SAMA Awards. The album was produced by the renowned Theo Crous of the Springbok Nude Girls. Known for his unique sound and emotional depth, Frost has garnered a dedicated global fan base, leading to international tours with bands such as Simple Minds and R.E.M., and opening for legendary acts like The Rolling Stones and TEXAS.
His career has been marked by collaborations with a wide range of acclaimed artists, including Karen Zoid, Henry Ate, Ali Farka Touré, Finley Quaye, Arno Carstens, Neil Sandilands, Tubatsi Mpho Moloi, Robin Auld, and Jake Gunn.
