Bhek'zizwe
Bio
Hailing from Johannesburg, Vosloorus, Bhek’zizwe from the east has risen and it’s time to revolutionize a new movement. The emergence of this new talent, with such eclectic and electrifying sounds, will undoubtedly shake up the South African musical sphere. We encounter healing and an alternative exploration in one ultrasound throughout his debut offering, African Stories: When the rhythm hits, the soul reacts.
From years of working background on some of the biggest stages in South African Entertainment, Bhek’Zizwe is no stranger to the technical expertise required to make a masterpiece. Bheki launched his album at Carnival City in grand style. The event was truly a lifetime memory for the exclusive fans in attendance. In recent years, he has been progressively cultivating a strong momentum on various live stages, cementing a sound his influences Salif Keita and Stimela would be proud of.
He took the audience down memory lane with the rendition of Ray Phiri’s Stimela, a dedication he holds deep in his heart. This sound takes you on a nostalgic memory trip down township memory lane. Bhek’Zizwe’s debut album, African Stories, is a strong reflection on the current socio-political status. Released in a time of desolation on the eve of the 30th Democratic elections, this release reinforces the importance of reflection on society needed, through music.
