Bonga Kwana, a SAMA-nominated musical prodigy, embarked on their extraordinary career in 2019, quickly rising to prominence and leaving an indelible mark on the music industry. Born to make waves, Bonga recently achieved an impressive milestone by independently amassing over 1 MILLION STREAMS, showcasing their innate talent and resonating with a diverse audience across the globe.
With a unique blend of soulful melodies and captivating lyrics, Bonga has become a force to be reckoned with in the contemporary music scene. However, it was the groundbreaking collaboration on "Ungazilibali" alongside luminaries such as Msaki, Ami Faku, Eryn Allen Kane, and Zolani Mahola that truly catapulted Bonga into the global spotlight in 2019.
In 2021, Bonga released their debut EP, "New Faces To Old Problems," which garnered widespread attention and solidified their status as a trailblazer in the music world. The album's lead single, "Nzwakazi" became an anthem for the LGBTQ+ community, while the EP earned Bonga a nomination for the prestigious South African Music Award (SAMA) in the category of Best Afropop Album only 8 months after release.
Bonga's captivating performances have graced the intimate stages of Sofar Sounds, creating unforgettable moments for fans around the world. Their ability to connect with audiences on a personal level has solidified their status as a performer of unparalleled charisma and authenticity. In recognition of their exceptional talent, Bonga received an invitation to perform at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in 2021. The journey continued as Bonga participated in the Nando's Music Exchange in London, further expanding their musical horizons and collaborating with industry experts.
Currently, Bonga is pushing boundaries once again by collaborating with Drumpope to attempt to smash a Guinness World Record for most recorded songs in a single year. This audacious endeavor reflects Bonga's relentless pursuit of innovation and excellence within the music industry. Recently Bonga inked a deal with Sheer Publishing, gearing up for the release of "Khanyisa" in collaboration with Rise Mzansi. Renowned for their prolific songwriting skills, Bonga has also penned tunes for the likes of Idols Winner Zama Khumalo, "Sobabini" and the emerging sensation Gogo Skhotheni, "Ndiyakwamkela".
