Brenda Mtambo

From belting out notes at the tender age of 5 and spending her teenage years singing choral music, Brenda Mtambo is without a doubt one of the most powerful and soulful voices in the world.

After initiating a music project called “Sisters in Joy”, Brenda took a big leap of faith towards fulfilling her dreams, kick-starting her career when she joined the multi-award winning gospel group, “Joyous Celebration”, with whom she recorded and toured Africa. The track “Say More Jesus” was written and performed by herself for Joyous Celebration 14. Brenda has since worked closely on projects, tours and DVD recordings with the likes of Lira, Judith Sephuma and Brian Thusi to mention just a few.

Her latest single Ungowam Forever, released in 2019, is a beautiful afro-soul and R&B ballad that tells the story and explores the journey of falling in love, finding light and learning to trust. A truly inspiring sequel to her first single, Ixesha Lam, which is a testament to Brenda’s storytelling abilities through her music.

Brenda was the headline artist at the 2017 Standard Bank Joy of Jazz and the Durban Jazz Festival. But this powerful songstress has graced many stages with her incredible talent, performing at festivals and events such as the Annual Jazz on the Lake (Joburg Art Festival), Ukhozi Soul and Jazz Experience, Usiba Cultural and Industries Awards, the African Cultural Exchange in Ghana, Nubian Music Festival, Kaya FM’s Soul Inspired Concert, Mahika Mahikeng Cultural Jazz Festival and the Mbokodo Awards to name a few. In 2018 she graced the stage at the Afro World Night Concert hosted by Moshito, alongside other great South African artists , and was invited to perfom at the 2019 Presidential Inauguration.
