Daniel Njugi
Bio
Daniel Njugi is a Kenyan singer, songwriter, and record producer. He began his music career with the band Sons of the Sun as the lead singer and multi-instrumentalist (bass guitar, drums, and rhythm guitar). Born on 5th December 1997, Daniel's childhood was highly characterized by the saturation of Congolese Lingala and Rhumba music in the Kenyan music scene. His father was a great music fan and would buy numerous albums of these genres for the family. His mother was also a music fan but preferred Swahili Rhumba by Kenyan and Tanzanian bands and probably two or three gospel artists. His mother used to write songs, and she would perform them in church with Daniel and his elder brother as her backup singers. This upbringing intensified Daniel's affinity toward live music, and bit by bit he found himself into rock music. He traces his full entry into Rock in 2019 and has always been his escape from harsh realities. Daniel is highly inspired by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Rush and looks up to Mick Jagger and Geddy Lee as his role models.
