Bio
Deebass (born Derrick Akoto Lamptey) is a self-taught musician from Accra, Ghana.
He is one of the most sought after bassist on Accra’s music scene, both in secular and religious circles. For a young musician, he exhibits a wide range of playing styles that has earned him collaborations with various musicians from Spain, France, Martinique, the US and South Africa.
Deebass is the main bassist of Ghanaian music collective Kyekyeku & Ghanalogue Highlife. In 2018, he brought a wealth of experience playing with Kyekyeku & Ghanalogue Highlife in Spain, France, Holland, Austria and Belgium.
Deebass prides himself for inspiring young musicians from his neighborhood. He has performed at different venues in Accra including Alliance Francaise, The International Conference Centre (Stanbic Jazz Festival) and +233 Jazz Bar.
