Kaybee Lebee
Bio
Kabelo Leballo as he is formally known was born in Mafikeng in the North West. Kaybee Lebee started
exploring his rap skills from as early as 14 years old. When he and his family relocated to the army base
in Pretoria it is there where his skill and love for hip hop was honed.
In the mid nineties he joined a hip hop crew called Lost Souls and started recording songs professionally.
Later on when the crew broke up he and his close friends formed a new crew called Roughkutz. The
crew performed on a few stages and recorded a full length self titled album. This they did while still in
high school. The crew took a sebatical when members went away to study further.
While studying at university, Kaybee Lebee did not stop and continued writing songs and performing on
few stages in and around Joburg under the stage name Mochini Oi Chenchang (M. O. C).
It was only after leaving University when he started revamping his sound and identity, where he adopted
his current stage name. His signature Boom Bap Motswako sound caught attention of critically
international producing duo Epic Mindz.
Together they produced a track which saw Kaybee Lebee breaking into the international scene and also
getting his first radio played song, 'Africa Unite' where he was featured with various other artists.
Kaybee Lebee, a father of two children and a full time top management employee
at a leading FMCG company, did not let the fire die down with little to show for his long pursued rap
career. He teamed up again with Epic Mindz to produce his current E. P 'Host With The Most'.
With this seven-track offering, Kaybee Lebee displays his true love to the Boom Bap Motswako style. He gives
a voice to the marginalized authentic sound of "true hip hop" according to him and gives a clear
uncluttered message to the new school ensemble.
