Kenneth Mugabi
Bio
Kenneth Mugabi is an Afro-soul artist from Uganda.
He is an award winning musician and songwriter based in Kampala, Uganda; who uses a story telling mechanism to write his music and empower the male generation. The stories revolve around the African Love stories and courtship, by exposing the male’s vulnerability. He believes most of the men are not fathered and so he uses his music to speak to them about the different areas of their lives.
He started his writing skills while at the high school and this led him to join Makerere University to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Music to grow his craft, though he didn’t complete. He has however moved on to be a sensational Song writer and performing artiste, setting his own sound that has set apart in this generation.
He wrote and recorded his first album Kibunomu in 2016 under Qwanza Music. The Album was a huge success with Naki and Kibunomu singles off the Album topping the charts. He worked with different producers on this album and of course his fusion of the ndingidi with the modern beats, brought forth a distinct sound for the album. He held his maiden concert on 8th October 2018 at the National Theatre and it was a sold out show. He won Afro soul artist of the year 2018/2019 Hipipo awards.
In 2018 he started working on his Second album titled Ugandan which was released in 2019. Nkwegomba a single off the album, enjoyed the airwaves of the radio stations, pushing the album to be a success as well. He held his second concert at design hub, Kampala Uganda which also sold out on 29th June 2019. Ugandan Album won the listeners Album of the year 2019/2020 vine Awards, Oliwa off Ugandan Album won Afrosoul song of the year 2019/2020 Hipipo Awards.
In 2020, he held the first paying online concert in Uganda on 26th April. This was during the Covid-19 Pandemic where all live shows were cancelled. He has gone to feature on several online performances including but not limited to, Club beatz, Hipipo awards, E- concert for UN women; Men at work campaign launch, The Canada Diaspora business online meeting, Tuliwamu e-concert. And has been invited by different organisations to talk about music in the digital era on different zoom conferences.
A seasoned performer, he has performed at several concerts and events including but not limited to: Bayimba arts festival, DoaDoa, Bell All-star Concert, Jazz Safari alongside Mya and Geniwine, Roast and rhyme, Blankets and wine, Uganda North America Association convention in Boston etc.
He is being managed by Karizm Business; an entertainment company that specializes in Talent management, Artist bookings, Events management and marketing and Public Relations.
