Mafiana

Mafiana was born in Umtata, Eastern Cape region in 1982 but was raised in Cape Town. He is the Founder & Creator of Selective Hearing Record Label and he is a writer, producer, DJ, singer and Rapper with a historical experience in Cape Town hip-hop, Neo-soul and afro-jazz with a modern boom bap swing to his music.

Formerly known as a member of the "First Case", an old school hip hop band since 1999 and as part of the band "The stereotypes" in 2006, he broke through the small Cape Town industry through these groups and has featured with other artists who are well established and those that are yet to be. He decided to be a solo artist from 2009 and defines the path as exciting and has appeared in international festivals such as Afrika festival in Stuttgart, Germany, Fire on the mountain, Cape Town Beerfest and Afrofest in Cape Town. He had a residency at A touch of madness restaurant as a DJ and performer in Observatory and Ukhamba Beerworx in Woodstock, and continues to host a variety of music networking events and concerts under the Selective Live venue.
