The Muffinz

Talented Afro-soul act formed in 2010 when Mthabisi ‘Mthae’ Sibanda, Simphiwe ‘Simz’ Kulla and Sifiso ‘Atomza’ Buthelezi met while singing in the University Of Johannesburg Choir. They decided to pick up their guitars and form a band. They entered and won an open-mic competition at a local bar in Melville, reducing one of the judges to tears. By April 2011 they were joined by Gregory ‘Keke’ Mabusela on drums. Honing their skills during a club residency, four months later they had gathered a loyal following from all over Jozi.

In August 2011 they were signed by independent label, Just Music. They went into the studio and in May 2012 released an 11-track album, ‘Have You Heard?’. The album saw them scoop a Metro FM award for Best Group, along with four Sama nominations, including Best Newcomer and Album Of the Year. They continue to go from strength to strength.
