Biography of Ntando Ngcapu

A Soweto, South Africa born and raised pianist, was exposed to music played at home such as choral music, classical music, local music of the time, and the music from church. At an early age, he was enrolled in the Soweto Youth Music Development, headed by Mr. Victor Koapeng, where got his grade 5 in Music. Ntando was drawn to contemporary music. Later he explored Jazz music with his high school band that he formed at The National School of the Arts. After matriculating, Ntando has been performing with many contemporary musicians around South Africa. In 2011 Ntando was awarded a scholarship by The Berklee College of Music to attend their summer semester program, an opportunity to perform with artists like Brenda Sara Mau. Ntando also performed in an Abdullah Ibrahim tribute concert at the Market lab alongside many other Jazz veterans of note. In 2013 Ntando enrolled at the Tshwane University of Technology. Ntando also won the 2017 Samro Overseas Scholarship Award.
