TEBZA MOZANIA

Arthur Tebogo Phume (born August 18), known professionally as Tebza Mozania he’s a South African Versatile musician, artist, composer, arranger, song writer and a performer. Tebza Mozania began his Musical career in the 1990s raised in Soweto and Vaal into a family that had nothing but love and support for each other, at the age of 11 he started playing keyboard for the family choir.

At the age of 14 he formed his musical group called The Mighty they rehearsed and performed in Church and weddings for few years after which he joined Sharpeville Jazz Band called Mac Jays in 1993 there, he refines his skill as the lead vocalist, drummer, song writer, arranger, and composer. Although he’s immersed himself in music and enjoyed accolades from family and friends he wanted the continent, world to hear his voice thus going for couple of competitions such as Shell Road to fame in 1996.His urge to empower himself led to the decision to study music first in Tshwane Pretoria at Contemporary Music College, and later at FUBA School of music in Johannesburg.

Still yearning to acquire more knowledge he fuelled his passion for learning music at the University of Cape Town where he joined the jazz performers program while at Varsity, he formed the group Mozania with South Africans and Mozambican musicians. Their numerous performances in and around Cape Town were enjoyed by a wide audience. In 2001 he was called to record with well renowned jazz musician Geoff Mapaya on his album called Black Maria.

He subsequently became the backing vocalist for Kgaogelo Mailula’s band where they toured the continent and later, he joined the band called Cuba groove band led by Lorenzo Chetty their numerous performances around the country led to an overseas tour of Singapore and Dubai.

In 2005 he became part of the singers taking part in Live DVD recording for Sello Galane free kiba the Market Theatre Johannesburg. In 2006 he formed a band called Tebza and the Under G’s consisting of 5 members playing different genres of Music and finally concentrated more on Afro Jazz which led to performances in different institutions such as Moyo Restaurants and a lot of Cooperate gigs around the country.
