TNG

Muhammad Plaatjies is a local artist from Beaufort West who started the group The Next Generation (TNG). The group was formed in 2012 with members from Beaufort West, Murrays Burg, Touws River and Cape Town. TNG was the winner at the 2015 marathon festival, where it won the Best group of the year award as well as winning the Beaufort West secondary star search in 2017. Performing at various festivals in places like Cape Town, Upington, George and Bloemfontein. TNG has developed quite a big following the group has won various awards, had its music videos shown on OnseTV channel 462 and got the opportunity to start its own TV programme called “n oomblik met talent”. The group also becomes the first Beaufort West and central Karoo music hip-hop artist to perform at the National Arts festival and Free-state Arts Festival with its own music show called “Positive Raps With TNG” in 2021 and 2022. Muhammad Plaatjies and TNG have become the first in Beaufort West and Central Karoo to win the Award for Most Innovative contribution Of an Artist/ NGO in the music discipline in 2022.
