Zimkitha Kumbaca is a otherwise known as Zimkitha is a SINGER | SONGWRITER | ACTOR

Zimkitha Kumbaca, better known as Zimkitha is a singer/songwriter disciplined in music, acting, and writing. While she is from King William’s Town, Eastern Cape (South Africa); she
spent her high school career in Pretoria, fine-tuning her songwriting and singing skills
through poetry sessions, participating in an indie band, Travellin' Blak, choir competitions,
and vocal training.
Thereafter, she continued her studies at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in
pursuit of a diploma and Btech in Drama & Film Studies. Her acting career has yielded
credits on shows such as eTV’s Matatiele playing Nontle, Amazon Prime’s Makoti S2 starring
as Qhama, international feature film, Beautifully Broken, Mzansi Magic’s Mzali Wami S1&S2,
and more.
It is her music career, however, that has seen her take towards R&B for collaborations with
artists like Marcus Harvey, Ayanda Jiya, Bugzito, Wordz, Beatmochini and Mo Molemi. As a musician, her craft is currently rooted in R&B soundscapes. In addition, Zimkitha is also a songwriter, composer,
playwright and Naledi Theatre Award Nominated director/performer.

• Established ‘Zimkitha Enigma Music’ Label
Zimkitha Enigma Music is a 100% black female-owned music production company dedicated to delivering exceptional live music experiences through artistic innovation and high-quality productions centred on theatre venues while empowering under-represented voices in the music industry.
The debut album, The Black Enigma by Zimkitha, launched The Black Enigma Tour in 2024, in partnership with The South African State Theatre and Escopia Distribution.
Although Zimkitha Enigma Music was
founded in 2024, as a team also hosted events/productions like the hip hop and R&B shows such as Maybe July (Pretoria, 2015-2017) and
Confessions of a Blacklisted Woman: She Bellows (Joburg Theatre, Soweto Theatre, The Main Programme of The National Arts Festival,
The Playhouse Company, 2014-2018), Return of The Ancestors (Naledi Theatre Award Nominee for Best Production, Best Director, Best
Ensemble in 2022).Zimkitha was also directed and transcribed scripts for an all-female cast in one of the first projects focussed on the
incorporation innovation and technology via online theatre during the lockdown(The Amavuso Project, a collaboration between
Zimbabwe-Nhimbe Trust and South Africa-Sibikwa Arts, 2020).
