Independent Music Performance Rights association (IMPRA)

Bio

The Independent Music Performance Rights association (IMPRA) is a non-profit South African company accredited by the DTI (Department of Trade and Industry), CIPC (Companies and Intellectual Property Commission Office) as a collecting society with a clear mandate of Needle-Time collection and distribution.

Founded in 2014, the company seeks to elevate the status of performers as equal partners with producers when it comes to licensing, collecting, and distributing Needle-Time royalties.

It represents the interests of South African independent producers, record companies and performers. IMPRA’s membership is also opened to individual players, like producers or performers, who may not necessarily belong to any formation or structure.
