The New School for Jazz and Contemporary

Bio

The New School for Jazz and Contemporary is a band from New York City, the U.S. It is a creative collaborator for the Music 4 Malawi project. It is a jazz and contemporary music outfit that offers talented musicians an exceptional opportunity to train with professional artists from New York City's well-known jazz community. Founded in 1986, their experience in music lies in their artist-as-mentor classroom approach. Worth noting is their progressive curriculum which have turned students who are associated in the project into talented pupils.

The project was launched in 2014 and runs in partnership with Komai. The launch was attended by world music Professor, Chris Stover. Since 2014, The New School has been making regular visits in the country to spearhead the Music 4 Malawi. The visits were intended to run teacher training courses and help teach in the after-school music classes.
