Amani Hakizimana, best known to his fans as Ama G The Black, is a hip-hop artist from Kigali, Rwanda. He was born on 4 July 1990 in Ruturusu, Remera, Gasabo District. His music is sung in Kinyarwanda language. He is one of the artists in the country whose music reflects his passion for hip-hop.
The rapper claimed fame in 2012 after the release of his controversial single ‘Uruhinja’ that almost landed him in jail. Back then, his debut song didn't do well on local charts. He continued to record more songs but none of them gave him a breakout hit. The release of ‘Ndamukunda’ was a turning point in his music career. The track earned him a household name and a mark in the music industry. The song was well-received on local radio and TV stations. This was followed by the release of songs such as ‘Urugendo’, ‘Turagarutse’ (2004) featuring Tuff Gang's Bull Dog among others, ‘Igifu’ (Stomach) and many others.
In 2013, he won the Best Upcoming Artist and Best hip-hop Artist categories at the Salax Awards. He was also among the top 10 finalists for the fourth edition of the Primus Guma Guma Superstar talent search competition.
In February 2015, he launched his second album called ‘Nyabarongo‘ at the University of Rwanda, Huye District. The album has ten songs. Some of the songs are ‘Mana Yange’, ‘Ibyabana’ and ‘Nyabarongo’.
