Bloemfontein Philharmonic Orchestra

Bio

The Bloemfontein Philharmonic Orchestra is a registered NPO (NPO 217-818) that was established in Bloemfontein in 2013 as the BCO and re-branded as the BPO in 2016. As such it forms part of the South African City Orchestras network of City Orchestras.

These symphony orchestras combine amateur and professional players and perform accessible repertoire; think ABBA, Broadway, Movies, James Bond etc. Truly music by the community for the community.

The BPO is run as a NPO and is managed by a committee of five people. The day to day project is run by the Artistic Director, Dr Paul Loeb van Zuilenburg whilst major strategic decisions are taken by the EXCO which combines the Artistic Director and Chairman, Mr Bernie Naudé. Dr Loeb van Zuilenburg overseas the artistic component of the project and also conducts the orchestra during performances.
To date the orchestra has performed in front of more than 50 000 patrons in total!
